Loving Dad Takes Son to All National Parks

Jonah Geier is a very lucky boy.

Jonah was born with cerebral palsy, and is a quadriplegic. But regardless of his medical challenges, Jonah’s Dad has taken him on long hikes since he was a small boy. The 18-year-old has been to numerous national parks, often being carried in a child carrier. But when he became too heavy to carry that way, his parents began looking for an alternative. They found a carrier called the Dixon Roller pack, which was modeled after the travois, a very efficient carrier used by Native Americans.

Using that carrier, their trips to various national parks continued. In 2012, dad James Grier took his son to see the Delicate Arch in Arches National Park. The picture of him carrying his beloved son through that natural beauty was posted to various websites on Father’s Day 2014, and immediately went viral.

“We just have a special relationship with Jonah, my wife and I. He’s really kind of a best friend as well as our son,” Grier told TODAY. “He’s probably the best company that you can have.”

And the smile on the young man’s face makes it clear that he’s quite happy with the company of his beloved parents. Check out the pics:
